ROBOTICS INSTRUCTORS TRAINING SCHOOL

ONE WEEK REPORTS

 *INTRODUCTION*

When on Monday, 28th September, 2020, the ICT teachers of different private schools across different states in the South West Nigeria gathered together at Livingstone College of Arts and Science, Akobo, Ibadan for Level 1 Training Course in Robotics Education, little did they know that they can learn so much within one week of training.

Within one week and without prior knowledge of coding and programming, they learnt how to assembly and couple a Robotics Starter Kit, how to code and programme a robot to achieve barrier detection and avoidance, colour sensoring, infrared sensoring, geomagnetic sensoring, ultrasonic wave sensoring, etc

 *Closing and Induction Ceremony*

On the final day of the week long event, dignitaries and guests gathered at the multipurpose hall of Livingstone College of Arts and Sciences, Ibadan to witness the closing ceremony and induction of the trainees.

 *Practical Demonstration*

The ceremony opened with practical demonstration of the knowledge of Robotics Education gained by the trainees in the course of their one week of learning.

 *Presentation*

A powerful presentation on Robotics Education Awareness Programme (REAP) followed by the Convener, Dr Adebare Egunjobi. It was an explosive session that kept everyone glued to their seat and yearning for more

*Induction Speech*

A short but professionally inspiring speech was delivered by the Chairman of the Occasion, The Head, Department of Industrial and Production Engineering,  University of Ibadan, Dr Kunle Kolawole after which other dignitaries on the high table also took their turns to address the house.

 *Testimonials*

Some of the trainees were given opportunity to share their testimonials regarding the training school and they were all unanimous in their claim that it has been one week of transformation and career path shift for them all.

 *Presentation of Certificates*

Dr Femi Owofadeju of Department of Agricultural Engineering, University of Ibadan presented the certificates to all the trainees after which the programme was brought to a close

 *Dignitaries*

Some of the dignitaries that graced the occasion include:

 _Dr Kunle Kolawole_, Head, Department of Industrial and Production Engineering, University of Ibadan

 _Dr Femi Owofadeju_ , Department of Agricultural Engineering, University of Ibadan

 _Alhaji Tajudeen Salaudeen_ , the former National President, Association of Model Islamic Schools,  Nigeria,

 _Dr Tide Olalere_ , Director, Baptist Mission Schools in Nigeria

 _Mrs Olatutu Odelola,_ State President, World Organisation of Early Childhood Education (OMEP),  Oyo State

 _Mr Bolarinwa,_ The Chairman, National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Ibadan South East, Oyo State

 _Mr and Mrs Oladayo Abiri_ , the Proprietors of the host school

Proprietors of many notable private schools were also in attendance to grace the landmark event.

 *Conclusion*

To commence Robotics Education in any country, there factors are germaine: the right technology partner, the relevant Robotics Kits and the Robotics Instructors who will train the students in the class.

With successful training of the first set of students of Robotics Instructors Training School, the journey to the world of Robotics has just commenced in Nigerian schools! Welcome to the future that is already here with us!
